Victorian High Country

2 week trip touring the northern region of the Victorian High Country seeing some of the high country Huts, look outs, towns and the panoramic views from some the challenging tracks throughout the region. Camping will range from a single night to a couple of nights at each destination. Although the trip is prior to the snow season, there is a good possibility of snow falling during the trip. There will be the possibility for persons to camp within some of the huts.

Maralinga via
Len Beadell Track

Tues 3rd to Sat 14th May 2016 | Grade C

A return trip back to Maralinga in May, to drive the track created by Len Beadell from Emu to Maralinga. We will visit all the atomic bomb test sites along the Anne Beadell Hwy (Dingo Claypan, Totem 1 & 2) as well as Emu village, before heading south to Maralinga.

At Maralinga we will camp for 2 nights and we will do a full day tour of the bomb sites at Maralinga. You will also see the longest runway in the southern hemisphere, which is suitable for the Space Shuttle to land on. After the tour we plan to head to Robe for some sand dune/beach driving. If you have limited time, you can head home after the tour at Maralinga.

Big Red Bash

The Big Red Bash is a three-day Aussie Music Festival set against the backdrop of the Nappanerica (‘Big Red’) Dune in the Simpson Desert. This year, the headline acts are Jimmy Barnes, Paul Kelly, Glen Shorrock and Brian Cadd.

Following the music festival, we’ll take a leisurely drive down the Birdsville Track and spend a few days exploring the Flinders Ranges, including Arkaroola, Willow Springs and Wilpena Pound before heading back to Sydney via Broken Hill.

Looking for expression of interests for a Red Center trip through Cameron Corner – Simpson Desert – Mt Dare – Alice Springs – West Macdonnell Ranges – Kings Canyon – Uluru – Coober Pedy – Lake Eyre (possibly). Travel to the iconic Cape York Peninsula. Starting in Cairns we head towards Cooktown, pass the Lions Den Pub then through to Laura National Park. Some side trips include Cape Melville and Chilly Beach. We’ll head to the tip via the Old Telegraph Track and also visit Thursday Island. The return trip will be via Weipa.

Club Trip - June/July 2018

Kimberley Region Western Australia

June/July 2018 | Grade C

We are seeking expressions of interest from members who would be interested in doing a six (6) week trip to the Kimberley region in 2018. This trip is in very early stages of planning. Trip duration will be approx. 6 weeks and will start and finish at Alice Springs, an alternate start point is Kununurra.

General itinerary is: Alice Springs to Halls Ck via Tanami track, travel to Kununurra along the Gt Northern Highway (Black Top) stopping at Bungle Bungles. from Kununurra travel to Broome via the Gibb River Rd stopping at El Questro, Home Valley, Mitchell Plateau, Kalumburu, Walcott Inlet, Tunnel Ck, Windjana Gorge, Derby, Broome, Cape Leveque, Fitzroy Crossing and then returning to Alice along the Tanami.
