Land By Laws Specific to Windellama Land Use

In 2002 the Club fulfilled a long-held dream and purchased its own property. This land, on 93.79 hectares in the Windellema region near Goulburn, is used for Club activities such as bush camping, driver training, social activities and the like. There is a dam on the property, which provides a reliable source of water for bush fire fighting and we have installed two self-composting toilets and water tanks.

  • The Club Constitution and By-Laws will be adhered to at all times whilst traveling to and on the property. All NP4WDC Committee (the Committee) directions and advice are in addition to these By-Laws.

  • Entrance to the land will be via the southern end of the land, into the camping area, known as “The Valley”. The exit at the northern end of the land is available to vehicles without caravans/trailers..

  • Only existing or approved tracks are to be utilised, to comply with the Erosion Management Plan, and any damage to tracks that could lead to erosion must be rectified immediately. Should the damage be extensive, the Land Manager is to be advised at the earliest opportunity. The construction of new tracks will be at the Committee’s direction only.

  • Land clearing is to be at Committee direction only.

  • Speed is not to exceed 15kph, whilst in the camping areas. A member’s presence accepts that vehicles must be engaged in four wheel drive whilst driving on the land.

  • Any member visiting the land is required to record their details in the on-site attendance book, or on the attendance sheet. This book/sheet is for public liability insurance records, and to assist in evaluating land use with a view to future projects.

  • Members and/or guests are not to intrude on adjacent private land without permission.

  • No pets are allowed on the land.

  • The Committee reserves the right to invite members of other Clubs or organisations to attend Club organised activities.

  • Visitors are welcome to use the land whilst with a member, however a visitor may not participate in their own vehicle in 4WD activities. Visitors may drive from the entrance to the land to a nominated camping area, and there should ideally be an overall ratio of not more than one visitor's vehicle to one member's vehicle, subject to Committee approval. Members are responsible for the behaviour and observance of these By-Laws by their visitors.

  • In the interests of health and hygiene, established toilets must be used at all times.

  • Approved use of the land precludes camping facilities being left unattended on site for more than one night. Exemptions may be applied for in writing to the Committee. There is to be no reserving of sites.

  • The principles of primitive camping are to be adhered to at all times, especially in relation to the issue of rubbish. Members will ensure that there is no rubbish left at any stop, campsite, or gathering place. The burning of rubbish is not acceptable – all rubbish must be removed from the area, and disposed of appropriately. In short, what you take in, you take out.

  • Firewood may only be collected off the ground. No tree is to be felled without Land Manager/Committee direction.

  • All campfires must be properly extinguished before departure. All fire bans, codes, and warnings must be adhered to. Fires are to be in designated areas only.

  • Excessive noise, especially amplified noise, is not acceptable. No noise should disturb other campers.

  • Members are advised that there is a creek and a dam on site. Parents or guardians are responsible for appropriate monitoring of children around water.

  • Members are advised that there is no running water on the land, and consequently all water for personal use must be brought in.

  • Where an uninvited person is identified on the land, they should be politely approached to ascertain their reason for being there. Should the person not be authorised they should be asked to leave. Should they refuse to leave, take down any identifying features, such as registration or description of the vehicle and or person, and forward that information to the Land Manager. Should the person display undue aggression, the member should contact the local authorities. DO NOT enter into any verbal or physical altercations.

Failure to observe these By-Laws may result in any offending member’s behaviour being examined by the Committee.
