Club Land

In 2002 the Club fulfilled a long-held dream and purchased its own property. This land, on 93.79 hectares in the Windellema region near Goulburn is planned for use in Club activities such as primitive bush camping, driver training, and self drive routes along designated tracks.

The Shed

The property has wooded hills and existing grassy clearings and is an ideal site to escape for a few days of quiet solitude or use as a base camp for exploring nearby areas such as the Shoalhaven, Southern Tablelands and nearby districts.

Ultimately, the Club intends to use the property as part of its Driver Training Course. Already we have held a GPS Navigation, Chainsaw Use and Senior First Aid courses on the land. Plans are underway for further courses during 2006.

The land has seen great social activities, such as our Xmas in July Weekends in 2004 and 2005. In 2006, it was the focus of activities as we celebrated the Club's 30th Anniversary. To achieve this, a huge effort was put in by a team of Club Members to finish the shed by May 2006. Now that the shed is built, things are able to slow down a bit.

There is a dam on the property, which provides a reliable source of water for bush fire fighting. We have installed two self-composting toilets and future improvements planned for include a large shelter shed so that groups camping on the land can gather together when the weather would otherwise restrict you to your own tent. The shed will also act as our "bush classroom" for educational activities and a central focus for social activities.

The land is in a sensitive environmental zone and at all times, members must take care not to cause any damage to the sheoak trees, which are the habitat of the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus lathami lathami).

Members may use the Club Land at any time without charge. For insurance and management purposes, we ask that you advise the Land Manager of your intention to visit the property, the dates of your stay and the number in your party before you go to the property. For safety reasons, during summer months, members intending to use the land should also advise Windellema RFS of their presence on the land. You should also make sure you have read and understood the Club’s Land By-Laws.
